The peroneus longus is a muscle in your lower leg. The peroneus longus starts at the top of the fibula then runs down the outside of the leg and connects to the foot with the peroneus longus tendon. Your peroneus longus muscles is what help move your ankles, flex your feet, and maintain your balance.
Injuries to the peroneus longus include: ankle sprain, muscle strain, peroneal tendonitis, tendon dislocation (subluxation) and a very painful condition called os peroneum syndrome.
